Chilmark Martha’s Vineyard Massachusetts

Chilmark is a town located on Martha’s Vineyard in Dukes County.  Chilmark has a beautiful picturesque coastline and rolling hills some lined with old stone walls.  Walking trails and fishing spots are many.  There are over 200 acres of trails for hiking in the Menemsha Hills Reservation.  Menemsha is a rustic fishing village where a lot of happenings go on.  The fishing village is located on the western side of the town.  Local fishermen leave from their harbor and return with their catch.  Where visitors and restaurants can purchase right off the dock. 

The three beaches in Chilmark are popular, Menemsha Public Beach, Squibnocket Beach and Lucy Vincent Beach which is stated to be their finest.

For movie buffs, the Menemsha Village is where footage was shot for the movie JAW’S.

When hunger strikes, here are a few places worth stopping at.  The Chilmark Tavern, 9 State Road (508-645-9400) call for hours. They have American, vegetarian, seafood and desserts.  For local seafood go to Home Port Restaurant,512 N. Road (508-645-2679) or Larsen’s Fish Market, 56 Basin Road (508-645-2680) and they also have take-out.  Make sure to try their lobster roll and their steamed lobster, oysters or mussels.
